About this Item: (Per Plinio Pietrasanta); 1553; 1552, In Venetia, 1553. In 4° piccolo (19,1x14,3 cm); due tomi in un volume: 287, (1) pp. e (6), 73 [i. e. 79], (1) pp. Legatura seicentesca in piena pergamena con titolo impresso in oro al dorso. Un lieve difetto al dorso. Qualche forellino di tarlo. Piccole antiche asportazoni di carta al margine basso e a metà del frontespizio per togliere antica firma di appartenenza privata (in minima parte visibile). Grande marca di Pietrasanta al primo frontespizio e grifone di Grifo al secondo frontespizio e all'ultima carta. Iniziali ornate. All'interno in buone condizioni di conservazione. Due prime edizioni del celebre cartografo e scrittore viterbese, Girolamo Ruscelli (Viterbo, 1518 circa Venezia, 1566). L'autore, grande amico di Ludovico Dolce, scrisse i "Tre Discorsi" quando la loro amicizia era già incrinata da alcuni anni. Nel 1552 apparvero due edizioni del Decameron curata, una da Ruscelli ed edita dal Valgrisi e l'altra dal Dolce, edita per Giolito. L'opera qui stampata apparve per la prima volta nel 1553 edita da uno stampatore fino ad allora sconosciuto. In essa veniva ridicolizzato Dolce come "correttore", poeta e grammatico. Con il suo feroce attacco all'edizione del Decamerone edita dal Giolito, Ruscelli finì per criticare anche uno degli stampatori che più di chiunque altro, lo aveva edito e fatto conoscere. Il terzo discorso si riferisce alla traduzione di Ovidio fatta dal Dolce e pubblicata da Giolito nel 1553 con il titolo Le Trasformationi. La seconda opera, che prende spunto da un sonetto di Giovanni Battista d'Azzia per tracciare un importante discorso filosofico, storico e linguistico che si sviluppa intorno alle dote femminili. L'opera contiene anche un curioso elenco delle donne italiane più belle divise per città. L'ultima parte del volume contiene ventitre sonetti di diversi poeti dedicati al Marchese della Terza. Fra gli autori Pietro Aretino, Francesco Sansovino, Domenico Veniero, Bernardino Daniello, Girolamo Muzio, Anton Giacomo Corso, Girolamo Parabosco, Remigio Fiorentino, Scipione Ammirato e Bernardino Tomitano.
