Book condition: VERY GOOD+. Full green morocco leather binding with gilt titles to spine and monogram to cover. Name plate on reverse of front board. Only very mild wear to boards. Mild foxing to prelims with clean pages completely free of foxing thereafter. Binding is firm and tight. Superb condition for age of book. Feel free to email for additional images. Item Description: London, Sampson Low, Marston, Searle and Rivington Limited, 1888, 1888. Royal quarto (325 × 255 mm). Original dull red morocco-grain cloth, spine lettered in gilt, marbled endpapers (the same as used in the deluxe binding), top edge gilt. Spine slightly sunned and darkened in places, inner hinges just cracked but holding, an excellent copy. Portrait and 14 photogravure plates by P. H. Emerson and George Bankhart, captioned tissue guards, wood-engraved vignettes on india paper and mounted; title printed in red and black; text leaves inserted up to p. 40 with several repeats. A salesman's dummy, or blad, for the lavish royal quarto signed limited edition of the 100th edition of The Compleat Angler. The edition is particularly notable for its photogravures by the renowned photographer of the Broads, Peter Henry Emerson, five of which are bound in here. Coigney 139; Horne 136.
