About this Item: E. H. Butler & Co., PHiladelphia, 1849. Hardcover. Condition: Good. First Edition. Gilt stamped full black pebbled leather with gilt stamped golden onlays on facing panels gilt stamped titled golden onlay on spine. All edges, gilt. Four illuminated leaves in the front matter; illustrated throughout with tissue guarded sepia toned plates. The leather is rubbed and abraded on the edges and joints. The front board bows out slightly. The front hinge is starting, there is staining and foxing to the preliminary leaves, and the sepia plates all have light foxing.
