About this Item: Charles Thomson, Leith, 1915. Original Red Cloth Hardback. Condition: Good to Very Good. First Edition. 1915. x, 352pp., and a photograph of the Provost of Leith. This is a collection of articles concerning Leith and its histopry, some of which had previously appeared in various newspapers or read as notes to various associations. Contents include: The Bailies of Leith, Leith Races, the Admirals of Leith, the Harbour and Newhaven, Relations of Edinburgh and Leith in the 16th century, trade and agriculture, the Tolbooth, Education in Former Times, a Leith Wedding 300 Years Ago, and Leith 100 Yearsd Ago. The book is in good to very good condition with shelf wear and some staining and soiling on the boards and spine. The spine ends and corners are bumped with a little damage to the cloth at the spine ends and wear to the cloth on the corner tips. The contents are tight and clean apart from some scattered foxing. This is mostly light but the endpapers and first and last few pages, including the title page, are more heavily affected. The free endpapers are browned with a name and date written on the front free endpaper. There is also some foxing on the fore edge of the book and thjis has seeped a little way into the margin of some of the pages. Pages 94 and 95 are browned, possibly where an old newspaper article had been inserted. The illustration of the Provost of Leith has rubbing along the edges with a few small nicks and there is a crease across the bottom corner. Size: 8.9" Tall. Seller Inventory # Leith047a
