Quarto (35.5cm); full beige cloth, with gilt-stamped red morocco title label mounted to upper spine; publisher's original black cloth slipcase; xii,238,[4]pp, with a frontispiece etching by Piero Guccione. Fine in a very Near Fine slipcase, with just a hint of sunning to extremities. Publisher's prospectus is folded and laid in. Attractive edition of the Italian author's only novel, initially published as Il Gattopardo in 1958. This edition bears a new introduction by Leonardo Sciascia. Basis for Luchino Visconti's Oscar-nominated 1963 film, starring Burt Lancaster, Alain Delon, and Claudia Cardinale.
