I primi sette ritratti si riferiscono ai primi governatori delle Fiandre, i successivi trentatré raffigurano i conti delle Fiandre, a volte con rispettive consorti e figlie, fino a Filippo II di Spagna.L'autore, un erudito di Anversa di professione luterana, prese il dottorato in arte e teologia in Germania. Occasional narrow strip of pale staining to page edges, more noticeable on last 3 leaves, penultimate plate has 2 repairs, not affecting image, 1 to fore-edge margin strengthened with a paper strip and small closed tear to lower margin, neatly repaired on reverse, last 3 leaves faintly foxed. A good copy. Finely bound together in full red morocco, gilt panelled covers with triple fillets, small ornaments at the corners and one in the centre, raised bands, gilt panelling to spine, gilt motifs in compartments, gilt title listing the second work, all edges gilt. Binding tight and firm, a couple of minor indentations to lower cover, otherwis.
