Slight wear to edges and corners of boards. Soiling and darkening to boards. Much foxing to edges of textblock. 321 p. w/ index, and one week's beer "regime", showing where and what beers were drank during a certain week in NYC. Dedicated to H. L. Mencken. Brown (1886 - 1959) was a central figure in Greenwich Village before WWI, and left the country during the was as a resiter, eventually setting up a newspaper empire in Brazil and traveling the world. In 1928 He and his second wife settled in France with the avant garde there, setting Up Roving Eye Press, mostly for his own writings. On returning to the States he wrote the present book, and followign its success they wrote over 20 cookbooks. Afer more travel and living abroad, Brown later reestablished the Roving Eye Press in the US and published some of the Beats as well. This work captures his joy of beer and humor very well.
