Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Blue cloth covers with gold lettering on spine and front cover exhibit light wear and fraying on corners and spine ends. Light wear to bottom edges. Light sunning to spine and hinges. Light shelf wear and soiling to covers. Inside front hinge is cracked. Still attached. Inside front and back covers and text are yellowed due to age. Otherwise clean and unmarked. Illustrated with b&w photos. Just the inside flaps of the dj still remain and are included. These letters start with the authors account of the Grand Review of the Army of the Potomac, through her honeymoon journeys and finish when her and her husband lived in Washington D.C. and details their life as a kind of inner and Liberal circle. All of our books are individually inspected and never ex-lib unless explicitly described as such.

Correspondence of Marion Hooper, wife of the author Henry Adams, chiefly addressed to her father during the eleven years of her marriage and detailing European and American Gilded Age society with lots of transatlantic cruises and lap dogs.
