François de Malherbe, né à Caen en 1555, mort à Paris en 1628, poète français issu d'une famille noble et ancienne, combattit dans les rangs de la ligue et obtint des pensions d?Henri IV et Marie de Médicis. A la mort d?Henri IV, il partit pour la Provence. Il représente la défense du classicisme contre le maniérisme et le baroque. Il fut un grand réformateur de la langue française. Illustré d'un fac-similé de l'écriture de l'auteur, et d'une vue de la ville de Caen. Bon état.
