About this Item: ReInk Books, 2017. Softcover. Condition: NEW. Reprinted from 1938 edition. NO changes have been made to the original text. This is NOT a retyped or an ocr'd reprint. Illustrations, Index, if any, are included in black and white. Each page is checked manually before printing. As this reprint is from very old book, there could be some missing or flawed pages, but we always try to make the book as complete as possible. Fold-outs, if any, are not part of the book. If the original book was published in multiple volumes then this reprint is of only one volume, not the whole set. This paperback book is SEWN, where the book block is actually sewn (smythe sewn/section sewn) with thread before binding which results in a more durable type of paperback binding. It can also be open wide. The pages will not fall out and will be around for a lot longer than normal paperbacks. This print on demand book is printed on high quality acid-free paper. Original publisher: Commercial Printing Co., 1938. Seller Inventory # 155748853

About this Item: Henry Clay Press, Lexington. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1968. Revised Edition, 16mo, 48pp, illustrated. VG in VG slipcase. Inscribed and signed by the author, "Very truly yours" without the recipient's name. Coleman was one of Kentucky's foremost historians. From his foreword: "Lexington occupied a unique position in the War Between the States. Nowhere were families more divided, or sentiments so mixed. Both of the Civil War presidents, Lincoln and Davis, were Kentuckians, and each had a fond affection for the city. Lincoln married Mary Todd of Lexington, and Davis spent three years as a student at Transylvania. Though Lexington was occupied by Federal forces during most of the war, the city fell into Confederate hands three times.". Signed by Author(s). Seller Inventory # 06892

About this Item: Henry Clay Press, Lexington, 1968. Hardcover. 16mo. Blue cloth, blue cloth slipcase. 44pp, (4pp). Frontispiece, illustrations. Near fine/near fine. Second, revised edition of this nifty pictorial essay, first published in a limited edition in 1938 -- inscribed and signed by the author large and bold in blue fountain pen on the front flyleaf: "Very truly yours, / J. Winston Coleman, Jr." No limitation statement, but being produced for the 15th anniversary of the Kentucky Civil War Round Table the quantity would have been low. Coleman (1898-1983) was a prolific Kentucky author and historian whose many books and dozens of pamphlets include "Masonry in the Bluegrass" (1933), "Slavery Times in Kentucky" (1940), "A Bibliography of Kentucky History" (1949) and "Historic Kentucky" (1967). A lovely, tight, handsome copy of this uncommon title. Seller Inventory # 42268
