Gronovius ?Dissertatio de gothorum sede originaria adversus Philippum Cluverium, eorumque in Imperio Romanorum irruptionibus? bevisas enligt Warmholtz att goterna (götherne), som Jordanes påstår, härrör från Skandinavien och att de fått med sig namnen ?Öst- och West-Göthar? härifrån, detta i polemik mot Cluver. Historikern Jonas Hallenbergs (1748-1834) boksamling såldes på auktion i Stockholm 1835 med en tryckt katalog som upptog 2060 nr.
