The spines are embellished with morocco title and volume labels. The endpapers are marbled. Errata pages at end of each volume. The bindings are tight, each volume showing only light rubbing to the boards. The contents are remarkably bright, showing very minimal instances of foxing. Altoghether a most handsome set, in exceptional condition. Note: this is the first edition of the original set of books. It is not one of those dreadful concoctions which are produced on demand. About this Item: W. Peacock and Sons, London, 1802. Condition: Very good. First edition. 24mo (5 3/8" tall), contemporary full tree calf bindings and spines, with spines somewhat perished. Gilt medallions and rules on spines, but no titles on the three volumes. This is the complete set, six volumes in three. Volume I: b&w frontis of 213pp; Volume II: 189pp; Volume III: 238pp. 1802. Printed for W Peacock and sons. Corners bumped and rubbed. Hinges delicate, with some cracking at front covers, and Volume II rear board detached. Internally, lightly toned strips to outer edges of end papers of all three volumes. An encyclopedia which begins with "Abbe, a French word literally meaning an abbot" and ends with "Zootomy, the art or act of dissecting animals or living creatures.". Seller Inventory # 11848
