Gordon Ross (illustrator). First Edition. Cream colored buckram with stamped decoration of Boswell on cover, book is in FINE condition. It has the elusive original DJ on it which is a tissue paper type DJ (which explains why it is not usually present with the book) it does have some minor edge chipping and a 1/4" chip missing across the spine top. It is in the original black slipcase with paper title label on front. There is some minor rubbing to edges of the slipcase otherwise in very nice condition, it has protected the book well. This book is copy # 451 of 1,000 copies signed by Gordon Ross the illustrator. THIS SEEMS TO BE THE ONY BOOK LISTED WITH THE ORIGINAL TISSUE DUSTJACKET STILL INTACT. PAGES UNCUT AND TOP EDGE PAGES GILT. Signed by Illustrator(s). Bookseller Inventory # 000732

Large paper edition, signed by the artist, Ernest H. Shepard is limited to three hundred and fifty copies of which this is number 262. Bookplate of Jack Hodges (1924-2014) an avid book collector and author of two books on English literature - 'The Driver of the Omnibus' and 'The Heart of the Writer.' An attractive bookplate showing a horse driven coach in a fantastic mountain landscape with the words 'Every dear passion, every joy.' It was adapted from E.M.Forster’s ‘The Celestial Omnibus.' Slight browning to endpapers, otherwise very good+ in slightly tanned, complete, near very good dust wrapper with a few small closed tears at the top edge. Bookseller Inventory # C19529
