Item Description: Hodder and Stoughton c. 1912, London, England, 1912. Hardcover--paper over boards. Book Condition: Good. First edition thus. No date. No author given. Small quarto, 9 1/2" tall, 352 pages + 24 color tipped on plates, gilt titles and decorations on beige cloth. A good hard cover copy overall, exterior moderately worn, back strip foxed and darkened; both hinges broken and rear hinge loose apparently causeed by bookworms) but internal binding solid, paper lighty yellowed with , illustrations clean and bright. Plates are wonderful. Lack of author's name appears intentional as it was done on the original edition of 1719. Because of the broken hinges, this is not collectible and common enough not to be worth rebinding, but is still a terrific reading copy. Bookseller Inventory # 39608

Item Description: Hodder and Stoughton, New York. Oatmeal Buckram w Gilt. Book Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good (original box). Noel Pocock (illustrator). Undated Edition, ca 1910. This 352 page legend, being an increasingly well respected and energetically applauded offering it is proudly presented with great and well deserved hubris by Hirschfeld Galleries in BOTH the publishers original binding and original dustwrapper. The binding is full oatmeal buckram cloth over boards with bold gilt titles still shining bright. This treasure is rock solid, tight and clean, save for one small finger spot on front cover which appears to be part of the blindstamped scene, which has a single bare footprint embossed next to the incoming surf. A striking design element. The back strip features the same design. The text block is set in a very readable type face, while the colored paintings are mounted on grey card stock. 7" X 9 1/4" X 2" thick. First edition with these illustrations. The binding is tight and the endpaper gutters are sound as can be. BONUS: This book is presented in the publishers original cardboard box with pastedown label. And this bos is rock solid and appears to be the ONLY ONE of its kind listed. Alas, when all is said and done and the proverbial geese have come home to nest or roost, or whatever, and you're ready to decide to invest some of your hard-earned cash in this lofty offering, please consider that this book does indeed have the four absolute uppermost qualities we at Hirschfeld Galleries since 1931 have always sought, and demanded, in books: 1) excellence in content, 2) literary quality, 3) appealing design, and 4) significance of contribution. Another great altruistic offering opportunity for us and an even greater opportunity for self-actualized reception on your part. But enough of the lugubrious however allegorically wise jaw-jacking, enough said of the telluric parameters of select Hirschfeld Galleries' offerings such as this one which take on a life of their own and speak so very loudly for themselves. Read to learn and enjoy; go forth to share and enjoin. Research, analysis, dissertation, lucubrations or just enjoyment, this is the one. ACTUAL BOOK FOR SALE PICTURED. PLEASE DOUBLE CLICK ON IMAGE TO ENLARGE. There is no copyright dae Size: Large 8vo. Adventure Hardcover. Bookseller Inventory # 007048
