About this Item: Parthenon Press, Nashville, 1948. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st ed. 215p. dj. 20cm. Ends of backstrip chipped on jacket, which also has some soil and a couple of edge-tears. SIGNED on endpaper by the author and by Bishop Shaw (as "Alexander P. Shaw"). Laid in is an oversized business card for the author identifying him as a "Spiritual, Educational, Business, Social Advisor" which also says "No charge for services." Bishop Shaw was born in Mississippi in 1879 and graduated from Rust College in 1902. He entered the ministry of the Methodist Episcopal Church and eventually served fourteen years as pastor of Wesley Chapel in Los Angeles before being elected a bishop in 1936. He served as Bishop of two Episcopal areas (Baltimore and New Orleans) in the M. E. Church's infamous Central Jurisdiction. The author of this biography was one of the bishop's brothers.
