About this Item: Lindsay and Blakiston, Philadelphia (c1850's?). Condition: Fair-good. Handcolored Frontis. Several Small Woodcuts. (illustrator). No Date C1850's?. Original covers bit worn edges and scuffed. Spine tips frayed. Gilt lettering and decoration on spine chipped. Previous owner's inscription dated 1898, earlier owner's name front endpaper. Handcolored frontispiece. Heavily foxed throughout - still good example of early juvenile. Girl is referrred to as "Lissie Linden" in book, but title clearly states "Lizzie". (americanized from english title?) Preface states story "having its chief incidents derived from the occurrences of real life." Story begins with grandmother asking granddaughter, about nine, to read chapter in the Bible. Seller Inventory # 006974
