Item Description: Jones & Co., London, 1827. Book Condition: Very Good. First edition. 4to, 11 by 8.5", 28 by 22 cm. 172, [2] pp along with two engraved title pages, 80 engraved plates, and 1 chart or map of Regent's Park. Plates feature two panels each, with two views 6 inches wide, 3.5 inches tall. A celebration of Regency and Adams classicism, although there is a little bit of every style and type of building then standing in London. A superb tour guide into bygone London. Some foxing throughout, most pronounced on first title page. (There are three title/half title pages in all.) Note that one title is watermarked 1829, the other 1827. Other than offsetting at times, most text pages are clean, while plate pages tend to have some browning and soiling. Many tissue guards have survived. Some shelfwear to binding along edges and corners. Half Morocco over marbled boards. Bookseller Inventory # 001422

Item Description: Jones & Co, London, 1829. 1/4 Leather. Book Condition: Fair Leather Flaking. Engraved Plates (illustrator). 1st English Edition. Both volumes bound alike and titled Metropolitan Improvements. One quarter leather with marble boards, one inch of the leather is missing from the head of one volume. All plates are bright, with a touch of foxing to just a few, one hinge id weak. A previous owner nunbered all plates in light pencil and put the numbers next to the alphabetical list of engravings. Item Description: Jones & Co 1827-1829, London, 1827. Three Quarter Leather. Book Condition: Good. Shepherd, Thos. H. (illustrator). First Edition. A fascinating survey of London's built environment in the early 19th century. 160, iii; vi, 12 (Subjects), 172, ii (List of Engravings). Both volumes have red leather spine with five slightly raised bands, gold embossed titling and decoration, losses at head and foot of spine. Volume I front board hanging by one cord, considerable foxing to frontispiece engraving and first title page with engraving of Temple Bar, From the Strand. Volume II front board detached. Marbled endpapers, considerable foxing to frontispiece engraving and first title page with engraving of Sussex Place at Regent's Park; this title page appears to have suffered water damage and was re-backed with another sheet of paper by a binder, second title page undamaged.
