First edition thus, though the stories were first published separately in other publications. Including four semi-comic mystery stories, this work contains many examples of Wilde's signature wit and were first individually published in various contemporary publications. These are a fascinating insight into Oscar Wilde before his subsequent scandals and notoriety. Condition: Rebound in burgundy cloth. Externally sound, but with some shelf-wear to the backstrip and hinge. Spine is cocked, with a few marks. Internally, binding strained in places. There is a librarystamp on the front pastedown. there are some light markings throughout, including some foxing to the first and last pages. Ink stamp to title page. Overall: GOOD.
