About this Item: Dennis Dobson, UK, 1963. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. ?The author of this book, writing under a pseudonym, is a well-known novelist who does not always write with a view to publication. Because he genuinely loves his work, he occasionally writes a book for his own pleasure, afterwards putting the typescript in a drawer or cupboard, to be forgotten. Such a book is Love Has Seven Faces, quite different from his normal style or anything he had previously written. It would still be hidden away but for the author's daughter, herself a novelist. Unknown to her father she borrowed the typescript and sent it to us as a translation from the French. When several enthusiastic readers' reports accepted without question that the script had been written by a born Frenchman, and recommended it for publication, it did not occur to us that its creator was an author whose book sales in the English language total several million. Imagine our pleased surprise when, on making enquiries about author and translator, the translator's daughter reluctantly revealed the truth. Here, then, for others to share our pleasure, is Love Has Seven Faces, the story of a French country boy who, during a lifetime of experiencing almost every variety of love and by an ironic quirk of fate, improves his prospects as an indirect and unintentional consequence of each separate experience, eventually becoming a celebrated playwright. Love Has Seven Faces may be frank and it is certainly revealing, but behind the author's facade of cynicism, discerning readers will preceive a sympathy for, and homage to all women, that men will appreciate and women will value.? Book in Very Good green boards with silver lettering - light bumping to the extreme top of the spine. Contents, minor spotting to the top edge of the title page and extreme page edges otherwise clean, bright and tightly bound. Dust Jacket Good - light rubbing and grubbiness to the extreme edges and light wearing to the edges of the laminate to the spine. Size: 8 inches tall by 5.25 inches. 255 pages. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 500 grams. Category: Fiction; Inventory No: A145-1119. Seller Inventory # A145-1119
