Stark erweiterter und veränderter Nachdruck der Ausgabe Marcus Hoppers bei Heinrich Petri 1563 (GG 90), nachdem in der Zwischenzeit keine einzige Gesamtausgabe der Werke Lukians, weder griechisch noch lateinisch, erschienen zu sein scheint. Neu hinzu kommt in dieser Ausgabe, zwischen den Elogien in Prosa und den Lobgedichten im ersten Band, und auf der Titelseite angekündigt, eine "Erzählung" von Leben und Schriften Lukians "Iacobi Zvingeri Philosophi & Medici Basil." auf zehn gedruckten Seiten. Der Arzt Jacob Zwinger war von 1595 bis zu seinem Tode im Jahre 1610 in Basel Professor der griechischen Sprache. Herausgeber der im Kommentarteil oft auf das Doppelte erweiterten und praktisch angeordneten Ausgabe ist Huldrich Frölich, wie wir auf der schon barock aufgemachten Rückseite des Titelblatts erfahren, der Bearbeiter und Herausgeber u.a. auch des Basler und Berner Totentanzes. Er widmet sie keinem andern als "Excellentisz. & Clarisz. Viro, D. Iacobo Zvingero, magni illius Theodori F. Medico & Philosopho experientissimo acutissimoque. " als "Observantiae & amicitiae monumentum". Neu ist auch, im ersten Band nach dem Inhaltsverzeichnis, ein Verzeichnis der Übersetzer, das Frölich, selber Schriftsteller und Übersetzer, besonders nahegelegen haben dürfte. Die Indices sind, worauf auf der Titelseite hingewiesen wird, auf die Bände verteilt. About this Item: per Seb. Henrici Petri,, Basileae, 1563. Quattro volumi di cm. 15,3, pp. 4.000 ca. complessive. Testatine, capolettera e finalini in xilografia. Solida ed elegante legatura ottocentesca in mezza pelle, dorsi a nervi con ricchi fregi e titoli in oro, Tagli, piatti e sguardie marmorizzate. Esemplare con carte un po' arrossate ai primi due volumi, ma ben conservato. Fitte annotazioni ms. coeve all'inizio del primo volume. Si tratta della prima edizione con i commenti del Cognati e del Sambuco, poi ristampata nel 1602 e 1619; è presente il testo originale greco e la traduzione latina. Cfr. Graesse (IV, 278) che elenca Erasmo e T. Moro fra i traduttori, ma parla di soli due volumi (!). Assai rara a trovarsi completa delle quattro parti. Seller Inventory # 20908
