In the story, a boy finds himself mysteriously taken from aboard a tugboat in New York City's harbor, flung high into the sky and landing in Oz's Nonestic Ocean! Another marvelous book in this lengthy series. Cloth covers are red with a bright full-color pictorial label that is a bit wrinkled with a little rubbing at its bottom edge and there is the Oz insignia on the spine that is a little wrinkled. Missing FFE was replace w/a facsimile, hinges were re-glued and there is staining from ancient tape that has been removed. Copy is solid despite flaws. B&w illustrations throughout. OUT OF PRINT. (illustrator). 1st Edition. 1st printing. 4to., green cloth with pictorial pastedown and stamped titles and decoration to the spine with publishers name in semi script ¿fancy¿ letters. A thick volume at 1 3/8¿ with 16 page gatherings. Black and white pictorial endpapers, 289 (1) pp with black and white images throughout. (Hanff XXVI). The spine is a little toned and has rubbing to the spine tips which are beginning to fray. The fore edge corners are also rubbed through and the pictorial pastedown image is a little dust stained. Internally the book has an owner¿s name on the front paste down and on the ownership page. There are a few drip marks on the edge of the text block but only one or two light marks internally. Allowing for the slightly delicate condition of the spine tips, this is a very good copy of a first state of the first edition of this Ruth Plumly Thompson Oz book. Seller Inventory # 000789
