Sasa Pana's book of prose with Max Hermann Maxy surrealist illustrations. The eleventh publication of "unu". Sa?a Pan? (Alexandru Binder; 1902-1981) was a Romanian poet, the chief figure and theoretician of surrealism in Romania. He was the editor of the most important Romanian avant-garde review "unu" (one; existed between 1928-1932). Max Hermann Maxy (1895-1971) was a Romanian avant-garde painter and set designer. Studied in Bucharest and Berlin where he joined the expressionist circle of the Novembergruppe, and his works were exhibited at the Sturm Gallery together with Paul Klee and Louis Marcoussis. In 1924 he has exhibited at the International Exhibition of the avant-garde Contimporanul group in Bucharest. He established the Academy of Modern and Decorative Art in Bucharest, a school of art based on the Bauhaus-idea. Maxy was the founder of the avant-garde review Integral. He worked as set designer at the Jewish theater in Bucharest that later he became the director of. After WWII he became a celebrated and awarded artist of the communist Romania.
