First Edition. 26 pages, well illustrated , mainly in colour. Mrs. Emily Clapham's dressmaking salon, opened in Hull in 1887, achieved world-wide patronage for the quality and style of her ladies' fashion by the 1880's. Uniquely, without having premises outside Hull she was still able to compete with the London fashion houses, traveling to meet her clients at major hotels at York, Harrogate, Grimsby and London - and for her most esteemed client, Queen Maud of Norway, she traveled to Sandringham. She styled herself as Court Dressmaker from 1901, making many dresses suitable for presentation at court. Size: 9 3/8" x 6 5/8". Bookseller Inventory # 003298
