About this Item: The Bobbs-Merrill Co., Indianapolis, IN, 1925. Cloth. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR on front endpage -"To Will Hays whom I am very proud to number among my friends Bruce Barton March 11. 1926". Will Hays managed Warren G. Hardings successful campaign for the Presidency of the U.S. and was subsequently appointed Postmaster General. After a year in that position, he resigned to become most famously known as the first President of Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA), which under his guidance published a blacklist of actors and workers studios should not hire, inserted moral clauses into actors' contracts, and published an informal list of suggested guidelines for film producers. Bruce Barton was an advertising executive, and politician. He served in the U.S. Congress from 1937 to 1940 as a Republican representative from New York. As an advertising exec, among other famous campaigns, he created the character of Betty Crocker and also was credited with naming General Motors and General Electric. "The Man Nobody Knows" is Barton's most famous book, wherein he envisions Jesus as if he were alive in the present day. It painted a different picture of Jesus than people were used to during that time, and created quite a stir. Book is Very Good, lacking the dustjacket, titles faded and cloth dulled. A great ASSOCIATION COPY. SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR. Association Copy. Seller Inventory # 004618
