About this Item: Condition: New. Publisher/Verlag: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing | This book discusses the features of anthropomorphic metaphor in the Manggarai language viewed from cultural linguistics, an emerging paradigm in cognitive language which explores the relatioship of language, culture, and conceptualization. The Manggarai language refers to local language used by Manggarai people, an ethnic group residing in the western part of the island of Flores, the province of East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The matters of discussion cover two poles of linguistic signs as pairings of form and meaning. Apart from universal dimension in some respect, the forms and meanings of anthropomorphic metaphor in the Manggarai language are unique and specific to Manggarai culture. Such uniquenes and specificity reflect the cultural conceptualizations existing in the cognitive map of Manggarai people in viewing the world that they themselves face and imagine. The purpose in our minds is that this book might be beneficial for readers and other researchers who are interested in studying local languages, especially in an attempt to preserve endangered languages and those are in Indonesia as multilingual country are no exception. | Format: Paperback | Language/Sprache: english | 60 pp. Seller Inventory # K9783330336940

About this Item: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing, 2017. Paperback. Condition: New. Aufl.. Language: English . Brand New Book. As the title tells, this book presents the basic grammar of Kempo subdialect spoken by its native speakers in its area in West Manggarai regency close to Komodo island. As presented in the introduction, Kempo subdialect belongs to West Manggarai dialect of Manggarai language spoken in the West Flores island in Indonesia. Kempo as a subdialect in this book refers to the division of Manggarai language into dialects, and the dialects into subdialects. The book contains the descriptions of two main sections, parts of speech and syntax. The parts of speech include descriptions of nominals, verbs, adjectives, interjections, prepositions, determiners, and conjunctions, meanwhile the syntax the descriptions of phrases and sentences. Like Manggarai language, Kempo subdialect performs two types of transitive constructions: Agent-Verb-Patient (A-V-P) and Patient-Verb-le-Agent (P-V-le-A). However the latter could raise a problem whether it indicates a passive or ergative construction. To conclude, this book presents such kind of phenomenal construction that supports to enrich both the theory of language typology and language universals. Seller Inventory # KNV9783330049383

About this Item: Brill, Netherlands, 1967. Hardback. Condition: New. Language: Indian . Brand New Book. This study is of a modest segment of Germany s experience in the Weimar and Nazi periods. Its purpose is to throw light on one small part of that experience in order to add it to the larger puzzle. It is a study of Neudeutschland, a German Catholic youth organization for students. The membership of the Bund, as it was known, is primarily from the German secondary schools, those which are equivalent to the last two grades of grade school, plus high school and two years of college in the United States. Two ancillary sections of the organization are the Jungvolk, the segment for the youngsters of pre-secondary school age, and the Alterenbund, for those who have graduated and are pur suing careers in business, the university, and such. The organization was founded in 1919. Its course was relatively stormy until 1924, after which a short respite occurred in which an attempt was made at a unique synthesis. That synthesis can be sum marized in the phrase, quot;Catholic youth movement. quot; Neudeutschland sought to catholicize the quot;healthyquot; aspects of the German youth move ment which had grown after 1900 and which had swept through the secondary schools of Protestant northern Germany prior to the First World War. Mter the war, the impetus towards youth movemen- greatly enhanced by the shattering of the old, restricting authorit- spread among the Catholic students in the secondary schools. About this Item: Springer, Netherlands, 1970. Hardback. Condition: New. 1970 ed.. Two ancillary sections of the organization are the Jungvolk, the segment for the youngsters of pre-secondary school age, and the Alterenbund, for those who have graduated and are pur- suing careers in business, the university, and such. The organization was founded in 1919. Its course was relatively stormy until 1924, after which a short respite occurred in which an attempt was made at a unique synthesis. That synthesis can be sum- marized in the phrase, Catholic youth movement. Neudeutschland sought to catholicize the healthy aspects of the German youth move- ment which had grown after 1900 and which had swept through the secondary schools of Protestant northern Germany prior to the First World War. Mter the war, the impetus towards youth movemen- greatly enhanced by the shattering of the old, restricting authorit- spread among the Catholic students in the secondary schools.
