Hardcover with dust jacket; green boards with gold lettering and intricate designs on the spine,as well as an embossed design on the front cover. Minimal bumping of the top and bottom spine with a 3 and 1/2" by 2 and 3/4"bookplate on the inside board, along with some shadowing on the FFEP. The hinges and binding are firm and the 296 pages are clean and unmarked with rough-cut edges. There is an introduction by Franklin Walker and G. Ezra Dane and a black and white fontispiece of Captain Edgar Wakeman. The book also contains a "Notes" section pertaining to each of the 26 letters. The final page bears the information of this limited edition copy with it being #1641 of 1795 copies. The mylar covered dust jacket has a 1/4" open tear at the top of the back cover. There is some chipping at the corners and along the bottom of the spine, with some light ageing spots at the bottom of the back cover. The $5 price at the time of publication is still attached. In a series of 26 letters, Mark Twain talks about his adventures and misadventures on a European voyage with his fictional alter ego, Mr. Brown.
