B1 and c1 are single leaves bound in and X3 cancel is bound to a stub. Expected correction on c1 cancel (p. Xvii) line 5 remains uncorrected from "first lerges" to "first derges". Light shelf rub to leather over spine edges; light shelf scuffing to leather at bottom board edges. Small indent impact the size of a pencil eraser to the spine surface. Partial internal split in the binding between blank and half-title. Title and dedication sheet(s) loose and laid in. B1 cancel loose and laid in. A pair of signatures mid-book starting. Endpage leaves with some mottling and light discoloration at edges. Prior owner book label of Edward A. H. Aston mounted to front pastedown. Rebinding unsigned, circa late 19th century. A collection of three large paper copies of these handsome volumes of some of Walter Scott's works. Marmion: A Tale of Flodden Field is a first editionvolume of Scott's epic poem. It is a verse in six cantos about the famous historical battle that took place in 1513 between England and Scotland. The Lay of the Last Minstrel, also published in 1808, is a narrative poem written in six cantos. It is the story of a sixteenth century border feud between two clans, Scott and Carr/Kerr. It is a verse romance in the gothic style. The Lady of the Lake is also a first edition, published in 1810 but with the same binding and by the same publishers. It is composed of six cantos and is set in the Trossachs region, Scotland. It is compiled of three plots - the competition of three men for the love of a woman, the feud between King James V Scotland and finally,a conflict between Lowland Scots and the highland clans. Sir Walter Scott 1st Baronet(1771-1832) was a Scottish historical novelist, playwright and poet. Collated via Copac: completeCondition: In a quarter calf binding. Externally sound with rubbing to extremities. Very slight wear to boards. Spotting to front free end-papers. Internally, firmly bound with some age-toning and foxing throughout. On p. xvii of the Notes, line 5 shows the reading "First lerges" rather than "derges." Pages 17-18 shows a crease. Paper size is 8 ½ in by 11 1/8 in. Bound in full, dark brown morocco leather by Zaehnsdorf, with their gilt stamp on the lower front inner turn-in, five raised bands on the spine, with gilt titling, double-line borders, and richly gilt inner dentelles, brown watered silk endpapers, top-edge gilt. Fading to the spines and cover margins. The fore and lower edges of the book have not been trimmed in binding. The spine shows a few abrasions to the leather. There is a small nick to the leather on the back cover. Light abrasions on the outer hinges, spine ends, and cover corners. With the bookplate of Cleveland, Ohio based book collector, William G.
