Robert Bridges was born in Walmer, Kent on the 23rd of October 1844. He went to study medicine intending to practice until the age of forty and then retire to write poetry. Lung disease forced him to retire in 1882, and from that point on he devoted himself to writing and literary research. He was appointed Poet Laureate in 1913 by George V, the only medical graduate to have held the office. He died in Oxford on the 21st of April 1930. Seller Inventory # APC9781785436468
