Item Description: David Bryce & Son, Glasgow, 1899. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Good-plus. No Jacket. Plaid cloth, all edges gilt, about 7.5 by 5 inches. 343 pages plus ads for publisher's book, shortbread, tartans, etc. A reprint of the 1845 edition by Ackerman. "seventy-four Coloured Illustrations with descriptive letter press." "the original work in two large quarto volumes is given here complete and unaltered further than being reduced in size properly paged and indexed for easy reference with suitable tail-piece illustrations." The color plates are exceptional, clean and bright, and show "appropriate figures displaying their dress, tartans, arms, armorial insignia, and social occupations." foxing to frontispiece tissue and title page. Two marks on each free endpaper where once touched by tape (not taped TO them, just touching them), as there was once a cellophane handmade jacket. Ptherwise the contents are fine. The plaid cloth is badly frayed at spine ends, with some loss, also along the fore edges and front lower corner. Still very bright, as is the gilt design on the front cover, although it does show rubbing. Gilt titling on spine pretty well worn. Very solid. Bookseller Inventory # 007371
