About this Item: John Crombie & Sheila Bourne. Edition limited to 70 numbered copies. Copy No. 16. In a designer bookbinding by Angela James., 1987. Hardcover. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. Size of the binding: 4 1/8 inches x 6 1/2 in., unpaginated [40]pp., with 19 Sheila Bourne illustrations printed in gray tones. In a designer bookbinding created by Angela James in 1988. From the binder's description: "Edges black. Endpapers of black paper. Black leather joints. Sewn on two tapes of black calf over vellum, using black linen thread. Case made with white calf inlaid with lines of black calf and a panel of white sheepskin with black sprayed in. Leather sewn tapes threaded through and fastened with press-studs. Foredge tapes also fastened with press-studs." The top-opening case is lined with black suede, and bears a mounted, gilt-lettered, black leather label with the binder's name: Angela James, in the upper interior section of the case. The book and the case are both fastened with snaps; the case has a black silk ribbon to help remove the book. This book was featured in the "Aspects of British Book Arts Today" exhibition, held at Jan & Jarmila's Saturdays' Book Arts Gallery, in 1988. A copy of this catalogue accompanies this book.
