Item Description: E. & S. Livingstone, Edinburgh, 1937. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. First Edition. xvi, 284 p. 172 illustrations. Blue cloth with gold and blank impression. Rubbed at corners with a bit of white splatter on the cover. Some notation in front end papers. Text block is clean and bright. An elaborate and gorgeous record of the landmark forensics used in the case against Dr. Buck Ruxton. On September 15, 1935, he strangled his wife Isabella and suffocated his housemaid, Mary Jane Rogerson. Their dismembered bodies were found in Scotland, wrapped in newspapers, strewn north of Lancaster after they were dumped in Gardenholme Linn. This text outlines--in gory detail, with lots of photographs--the innovative use of fingerprinting, forensic anthropology and, x-ray and forensic entomology (maggots) used to make the conviction. Of a different use was the bathtub in which Buxton dismembered his victims; it was made into a horse trough for the mounted police. Also, oddly, there is a Cyclops lamb.
