Full gilt page edging. In very good condition. Some minor rubbing to corners. Ends of spine bumped with some minor chips. Some minor handling marks to edges of cloth Inside pages darkened. Original bookseller label to front endpaper. Apart from the page aging this is a very clean and tight copy. No inscriptions. 190pp. Many b&w illustrations by A. Reynolt. Light blue coloured cloth boards with embossed illustration of Gaspard the cat looking through a circular window on the world outside. Gilt lettering, faded in colour in places on face and spine. Spine showing wear to top and tail and sun faded. Rubbing to corners and very slight rub mark to fore edge. Embossed logo of peacock on back cover. Dirt marks and one 70mm long stain on back cover. Gilt paint to all page edges. 12 full page illustrations by Raynolt and many half page and chapter heading plates. (These are a wonderful feature of the book). No jacket. Binding less than firm - split between pp176/177. Tiny cut to lower page edge on p177 No inscriptions. Browning encroaching to page edges.
