A few light spots to the front board, but there is no rubbing or edge wear and the gilt stamping is bright. The binding is square and secure. There is very minor underlining and a few marginal notes affecting the first thirteen pages of the introduction. The title page of this copy bears a sticker stating "1955 Robert Bentley, Inc, 8 Ellery Street, Cambridge,38,Massachusetts" covering the original Wm Dawson bibliographic statement. The copyright page remains indicative of the first edition. Overall a good copy of this title. Seller Inventory # 1120

Boards and interior are fine but book with Hacker Psychiatric Clinic inkstamped on title page. This copy went apparently nearly unused. Daniel Paul Schreber (1842 - 1911) was a German judge who suffered from what was then diagnosed as dementia praecox (later known as paranoid schizophrenia or schizophrenia, paranoid type). He described his 2nd mental illness (1893-1902), making also a brief reference to the 1st disorder (1884-1885) in his book Memoirs of My Nervous Illness (original German title Denkwürdigkeiten eines Nervenkranken). The Memoirs became an influential book in the history of psychiatry and psychoanalysis thanks to its interpretation by Sigmund Freud. Size: 8vo. Hard Cover. Seller Inventory # 1001493
