No Jacket. 1st Edition. hardback, thick Royal octavo, 10" x 7 1/2", blue cloth over bevelled edge boards, lettered gilt and with an elaborate gilt border to the upper board framing the heraldic device and motto of the Regiment, top edges gilt, remaining edges rough-trimmed, marbled endpapers added gilt. The first gathering is pulled but holding and the remainder is tightly bound, a small plain bookplate of Gerald Berkerley Portman, 7th Viscount Portrman to the front pastedown is the only marking in the work, three portraits in b&w and twelve tissue guarded coloured chromolithographs by Oscar Norie. xvi, (ii), 566, (ii) pp. A large heavy volume which may, if ordered from certain locations outside the United Kingdom, attract a request for additional postage.

Spine in 6 compartments with gilt pointille raised bands, featuring hand tooled gilt Prince of Wales feathers within gilt tulip, stamen and leaf corner-pieces, & floral head and tail scrolled tooling(slightly rubbed). Boards with gilt scrolling foliate borders within double gilt fillets (vertical incisions where historical strengthening repairs occurred). Upper board with central Prince of Wales feathers motif in gilt, above gilt block capital titling on three lines (corners slightly bumped and worn). Sumptuously and uniquely bound copy of one of the best illustrated cavalry histories of the period; Norie's plates are very fine.
