About this Item: Printed for Rugby School By Philip Lee Warner of the Medici society, Ltd., London, 1916. Hard Cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Original oatmeal cloth spine with papered boards, with paper title labels, top edge gilt. Obituaries of 100 Rugbeians who were killed between August 23rd, 1914, and May 9th 1915, along with tipped-in portrait photographs. Included is the obituary of Rupert Brooke. Printed on wire laid paper with uncut edges. Mounted sepia gravure photographs. The book comes with a home made blue cloth jacket, with a shield shaped badge attached embroidered with the interwined monoogram "RS". The jacket it has been removed in order to examine the book, and could be readily replaced with a few stitches if required. Externally alll good and sound, Inside the book is all complete and in good order with a firm binding. There is some offsetting to the endpapers and browning to the page edges. The cloth jacket has some wear and fading to the spine. Seller Inventory # 008279

First Edition. 7 volume set. In summary this is a very good set with soiling to the cloth and modest soiling and staining to the boards, but very well bound and in very good clean internal condition. The light blue boards of volume I have soiling and there is also soiling to the cloth spine which is worn around its tip. TEG and others untrimmed. The contents including the large number of tipped in portraits are in very good clean condition. Volume II is not worn to the spine but has bumped top right corners. Volume III has some staining and soiling plus slightly worn corners. Volume IV has staining and some raising to the blue boards and most of the paper title to the spine is missing. Volume V has worn corners. Volume VI has a small amount of staining to spine and lower board as well as the typical soiling. Volume VII has some staining to the upper board.
