About this Item: Privately Printed, 1879. No Binding. Condition: Near Fine. Card, 6x4 inches. Menu hand-written within a decorative border of cherubic chefs cooking at a stove and flying around with platters of food highlighted in gilt. With “General Rosensvard 11/3/79” lightly written in pencil at the top. Condition excellent with vestiges of paper on verso where sometime removed from album. An elaborate meal consisting of many dishes including Morue, Sauce Hollandaise; Roastbeef a la francaises (sic); Gelinotte (Hazel Hen) Cold Lobster, Dindonneau, Asparagus; Ices etc. Born in St. Barthelemy and orphaned at a young age Rosesnvärd was brought back to Sweden and brought up by relatives in Varmland with the aim of becoming an army offficer. This he did with great success holding many posts ultimately becoming Minister of War and decorated with Commander of the Order of the Sword and the North Star. Later in his career he was elected Governor of Värmland. Seller Inventory # 14019
