Item Description: Jas. E. Pepper & Co.,, New York:, 1933. 12mo. 63, [1] pp. Illustrated half-title, numerous text illustrations. Gray softcovers, lettering printed in silver & blue on front & back cover (front hinge starting, old minor dampring on front cover, presumably from an enthusiastic reader's cocktail), still G copy, w/ printed advertising label for Simon Simons liquor store on the dedication page in Hartsdale, NY. First edition of this delightful and bona fide celebration of the return of high-grade alcohol after the years of depravation during Prohibition. Guyer was one of the earliest contributors to the many mixology and cocktail libations books published directly after the repeal of Prohibition, and the recipes mixed with the Roese illustrations have a decidedly risque air about them. See: Dickson, Contraband Cocktails: How America Drank when It Wasn't Supposed to, p. 18, Chapter 10; Paul Dickson, Bootleg Bibliography (2015). Bookseller Inventory # 51204
