Condition: Fair. This is Vol. II, "Lectures on Logic,"of the two-volume set published by Gould and Lincoln in 1867, edited by Henry L. Mansel and John Veitch. 715 p., comprising 35 lectures and a 220 p. appendix illustrated with diagrams. Elegantly written names of former owners on end pages, and pencilled notes on end pages and occasionally in margins . Textblock is firm but volume is disbound with boards and front end page detached. Front board missing. entirely. Back board is black embossed cloth, with dings and stains. The spine is exposed. Paper is of fine quality and strong with only mild age-toning within. However end pages are chipped with some moisture stains at upper corners. This extremely rare volume deserves rebinding.

Fine leather bound first edition. The book has been bound by Maclehose in full calf with gilt decoration and marbled endpapers and page edges. The binding has some light rubbing, the spine and margins of the boards are darkening a little; it is stron g and tight. The endpapers have a Glasgow University prize plate and an owner's label. The portrait has slightly offset into the title page, the rest of the text is clean and crisp throughout. Portrait, x + 458.
