(33,5 x 23,5 cm). Holzdeckelband der Zeit mit blindgeprägtem Schweinslederbezug und zwei intakten Schließen. Vereint die grundlegenden Hauptwerke Hundts zur bayerischen Geschichte in erster Ausgabe in einem Band. - Mit der "Metropolis Salisburgensis" lieferte er "eine Beschreibung der Kirchenprovinz und Urkundenedition zugleich. Dieses Werk sowie das bald folgende 'Bayrisch Stammen-Buch' (1585/86), die genealogische Beschreibung des bayerischen Adels, bildet nicht nur eine wertvolle Ergänzung zu Aventin, sondern den Beginn einer neuen historiographischen Epoche für Bayern, durch die begrenzte Zielsetzung, die Konzentration auf ein Teilgebiet, wie durch die dabei angewandte Methode des Urkundenbeweises" (Spindler II, 808). - Die lateinisch abgefaßte "Metropolis" befaßt sich mit der Geschichte der Bistümer Salzburg, Freising, Regensburg, Passau und Brixen sowie den Klöstern der Kirchenprovinz, das komplett deutschsprachige "Stammen Buch" liefert "eine Art Matrikel des Turnieradels, sorgfältig und mit kritischer Gründlichkeit gearbeitet, für Hundts Zeit ausgezeichnet durch ein ungewöhnliches Maß von Urkundenverwendung. Viele Angaben sind durch keine andere Quelle überliefert. Der 1. Teil behandelt über 120 abgestorbene, der 2. Teil über 50 damals noch blühende Adelsgeschlechter" (NDB X, 65). Hundt verfaßte noch einen dritten Teil des "Stammen Buchs", der aber erst 1830 im Druck vorgelegt werden konnte. - Hundt (1514-1588) gehörte unter Herzog Albrecht V. zu den einflußreichsten Beratern der bayerischen Politik, nach seiner aktiven politischen Karriere fand er die Zeit für die vorliegenden historischen Werke. Verheiratet war er in dritter Ehe mit Ursula, einer Tochter von Simprecht von Benzenau (Pientzenaw), Burgherr von Kemnat und Vogt von Kloster Irsee (deren Genealogie denn auch im zweiten Teil recht ausführlich behandelt wird). - Der erste Titel ohne das weiße Schlußblatt. Das "Stammen Buch" am Ende beider Teile mit den sehr seltenen 12 gestochenen Wappentafeln (beidseitig bedruckt und numeriert 1-23) mit Wappen der im Werk erwähnten Adelsgeschlechter. Die Wappen wurden wohl nur wenigen Exemplaren beigegeben, lediglich in einem der digitalisierten Exemplare der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek ist die Folge ebenfalls vorhanden. Auch den bei Lentner und Pfister angebotenen Exemplaren fehlten die Tafeln. - Etwas gebräunt, die Ränder leicht fleckig, im unteren Rand stellenweise gering wasserrandig. Der schöne zeitgenössische Prägeband leicht berieben und wenig fleckig, Bezug an den Stehkanten teils etwas aufgeplatzt, eine Schließbefestigung etwas lädiert. - Zur Provenienz: Titel mit zeitgenössischem Besitzvermerk "Sigersreiter" (?), die Beschreibung der Familie "Ahaimer" (Stammen Buch II, 53) mit interessanten genealogischen Ergänzungen einer Hand des frühen 17. Jahrhunderts, wohl von Georg Achaz Riederer, Sohn des Hanns Georg Riederer, Forstmeister und Rat zu Burghausen: Neben seinem Namen steht: "Ich hab noch so lang es Gott gefellig ist". *I.
