Original brick-colored cloth in fine condition both externally and internally. House in the original brick-colored, pictorial dust jacket in very good condition. Jacket has one tiny tear to extreme lower front panel and two tears at spine head. Now protected with a Mylar jacket cover. FIRST EDITION. Heavily illus., 128p. Originally commissioned by the WPA in 1938, the Portfolio contained fifty hand-colored woodcuts and a booklet written by E Boyd. Shipped to Washington , they were condemned and most destroyed. This is the first reprint of the original which marks the 75th anniversary of the Spanish Colonial Arts Society. The Portfolio has now become a valued piece of New Mexico's artistic history. This copy is missing one print, (#4. "Portrait of Peggy") and the plate of the artist's biography. Remaining plates are untouched and unmarked without blemish.
