Facsimile ed. Hardback small, clear plastic dustjacket, very good condition, cream boards (mid-grey spine), vignette & initials front cover, decorative endpapers, minimal foxing edges, pages lightly toned, minor pencil annotation. 36 pp. This facsimile edition of the life of Tasmanian bushranger Michael Howe is published to mark the 150th anniversary of initial publication in the 'Hobart Gazette'. It is also a tribute to Andrew Bent the printer, and later the proprietor of the 'Hobart Town Gazette'. Mr Bent was the first in Australia to introduce a modern conception of editorship. This book was the first book of general literature to be published in Australia. The anonymous author is believed to be Thomas Wells. (No 345 of a limited edition of 500 copies. Vignette on front cover is a gun and the initials M H.).
