Book Condition: VG-. 400 pages. 12 stories of microbe hunters and their contributions in curing various diseases including Leeuwenhoek, Spallanzani, Pasteur, Koch, Pasteur again, Roux and Behring, Metchnikoff, Theobold Smith, Bruce, Ross Vs. Grassi, Walter Reed, and Paul Ehrlich, who discovered the first cure for syphilis and was the basis for a biographical film in 1940 starring Edward G. Robinson. Square, solid, unmarked copy with nice white pages, lamination is bubbling on extremities and has several small pieces out on both covers and a large piece out of upper back cover, small paper chip out of bottom spine end, small stain in middle of back cover. 5th Pocket Books printing but the first Pocket printing with the book's original title. The first through fourth Pocket printings of this book number 49 were titled "Dr. Erhlich's Magic Bullet" which was the title of the 1940 movie based on this book. Bookseller Inventory # nfic6607
