8vo [21.5 x 15 cm]; 293 pp, color frontis, 195 illustrations including full-page, index. original cloth, gilt lettering on spine, edges rubbed, few pencilled notes in margins, very good. Many of the illustrations are of microscopes and related equipment including 16 full-page, representing the state-of-the-art at the time, the models from various companies. This was the revised edition of the original 1922 edition, with revisions of sections on microscope stands and accessories. The author was a cancer researcher. A few stains in text, including title page, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 196 text figures, including colour frontispiece. A basic text on microscopy, rewritten since its first publication in 1895. COPAC entries ascribe authorship to the Lewis Wright (1838-1905) who was the author of titles on poultry.
