About this Item: Faber and Faber, 1963. Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. The First UK printing published by Faber and Faber in 1963. The BOOK is in near FINE condition. The red boards are clean with a minor production crease. Light toning in places to the text block. The gilt titling remains very bright. Slight pushing of the spine tips. Hint of a lean. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near FINE condition. A little minor edge wear to the spine tips, front upper edge and the corners. The pink colouring remains very bright to the spine. Front and rear flaps are very clean. The CHARLES MOZLEY designed wrapper artwork looks very striking in the removable Brodart archival protector. The book has been SIGNED by P.D.JAMES to the title page. The book has also been INSCRIBED and SIGNED by ROY MARSDEN (the actor who played Inspector Dalgleish in the celebrated TV adaptation) to the half title: 'To Paul,Best wishes,Roy Marsden'. The author's scarce second novel featuring (at that time) Superintendent Dalgleish. This title is extremely scarce to find in any condition. The wrapper is often found in a very soiled and faded condition. Housed in a custom purple solander box with gilt titling to the spine. This is certainly the nicest copy that we have handled to date and very collectible with such attributes. More images available on request. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
