Condition: Very Good. N.d., circa 1920s. 4to. 268 by 199 mm. Textured binding meant to simulate a fabric made of yarn, and a centerpiece rondel relief, evoking a commemorative medal or coin, Eight panels of card stock containing close to 600 yarn color samples, each sample a small rectangle measuring 8 by 24 mm. Front inside cover with a photo of the Minerva Processing Plant which was located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The product was branded Minerva Yarns but the company producing it was James Lees & Sons Co., based in Bridgeport, Pennsylvania. Rear inside cover with a leatherette pocket running vertically to contain any supplementary color cards -- ours is empty of this. Condition: Missing four samples, out of the 599 samples if complete. Some loss to a dozen other samples. The loss can be minor -- a tiny hole -- or a bit more substantial -- a half or more -- but in all these cases, one would not be handicapped in evaluating the color. Hardcover. Textured leatherette.
