About this Item: Los Angeles, CA, 1954. Box/In Slipcase. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. It is not often in the book business you get to offer something that is truly one of a kind - This is the one and only typescript copy of Gene Fowler's classic work, "Minutes of the Last Meeting". Gene Fowler inscribed the copy to his daughter and son in law in blue Crayon on the title page saying "To Jane + Paul, From Pop, With Love, Gene Fowler". Also on the title page there is an inscription by Gene's son and well-known author in his own right, Will Fowler in blue pen. Will's inscription states that this is the ONLY typescript copy of "Minutes of The Last Meeting" and that the signatures are authentic. This statement was added in 1983 when Will sold the typescript. Included is a separate letter in pencil by Gene Fowler. The Letter states: "Richard Berlin. Dear Dick thanks for the good deed. Will burn candles for you every Friday and dedicate cathedral window to you and yours. With best regards, Gene Fowler. The original typescript is in very good condition with some tanning as you would expect on typing paper of this age. The manuscript is in the original Eaton's Berkshire Typewriter Paper box. Unfortunately, the box is broken with a five-inch tear along the left side and corner edge, and has some half-inch tears and crease markings on the other edges as well as tape where the box was repaired. The box is in an orange slipcase with a plate on the spine stating "Minutes of the Last Meeting, Gene Fowler, Final Draft". The box cover has an inscription by Agnes Fowler saying who this is to go to and is signed by Agnes Fowler, Gene's wife, in 1965. So this is truly a one of kind - the typescript for a classic book, signed by the author Gene Fowler, with a separate letter signed by Gene Fowler, with inscription by wife Agnes Fowler and authentication by Black Dahlia reporter and author and son Will Fowler. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Inscribed. Seller Inventory # 062839
