Jawitz (Kolno, Lomza Poland 1848-London, 1924) was a "Hebrew author and historian.He was a representative of the Orthodox tendency in modern Hebrew literature and in the Zionist movement, and was one of the champions of the Hibbath Zion movement.He advocated the creation of a new community life in Palestine which was to go hand in hand with a regeneration of religion on the basis of tradition.
