ORIGINAL TYPESCRIPT OF "MIRACLE IN THE RAIN", AN ORIGINAL TYPESCRIPT OF A SCREENPLAY BY WALTER ABBOTT (a.k.a. FRANK ORSINO) (n.d.) , APPROXIMATELY 77 PAGES (RECTO AND VERSO), WITH NUMEROUS HOLOGRAPH ADDITIONS AND CORRECTIONS IN PENCIL THROUGHOUT AND ATTACHED WITH THREE BRADS TO THE ONE EDGE. TOGETHER WITH AN ORIGINAL TYPED SCENE OUTLINE OF 6 PAGES (RECTOS ONLY), WITH HOLOGRAPH ADDITIONS AND CORRECTIONS IN PENCIL THAT IS STAPLED TO THE FRONT COVER. BOTH ARE ENCLOSED IN A STIFF BLACK PAPER FOLDER, WITH A TYPED LABEL ON THE UPPER COVER. APPROXIMATELY 83 PAGES ALTOGETHER. TYPED ON BOND PAPER WITH PRINTED HEADINGS ON SEVERAL PAGES "TALENT PRODUCTIONS" HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA. APPARENTLY A SCREENPLAY TREATMENT BEING PREPARED FOR CONSIDERATION, "WHICH IS ABOUT 60% OF THE FINAL PICTURE." THE BALANCE, ACCORDING TO A TIPPED IN TYPED ABBOTT'S NOTE THAT THE REMAINDER OF THE SCRIPT WAS TO BE COMPLETED BY BEN HECHT. "MIRACLE IN THE RAIN" WAS FILMED IN 1954 BY WARNER BROTHERS WITH THE SCREENPLAY CREDITS GIVEN TO BEN HECHT. THE MOVIE WAS DIRECTED BY RUDOLPH MATE WITH MUSIC BY FRANZ WAXMAN, STARRING JANE WYMAN AND VAN JOHNSON. WALTER ABBOTT WAS APPARENTLY UNCREDITED FOR HIS WORK ON THE SCRIPT. BASED UPON THE ORIGINAL STORY BY BEN HECHT THAT WAS PUBLISHED IN "THE SATURDAY EVENING POST" MAGAZINE ON APRIL 3, 1943. AN UNIQUE RENDITION OF BEN HECHT'S HAUNTING MYSTICAL WARTIME NOVELLA STORY OF THE "MEETING" IN NEW YORK CITY OF A YOUNG WOMAN AND A SOLDIER WHO APPARENTLY HAD BEEN KILLED IN EUROPE DURING WORLD WAR II.
