First Modern Library Giant Edition. # G64 of the series. Goes to page 825 (although the last stated page is 822). Stamp of Merchant Marine library on the front and rear endpaper. No other library type marks noted. Torchbearer on spine and front board as noted for the year 1944 from Toledano's Modern Library Price Guide. With 1st issue DJ with number 299 on the rear inside panel of the DJ and the price of $1.45 on the bottom of the front flap. The DJ has some wear and some creases at the corners and edges by the spine. Crease line at the top of the back of the DJ. DJ is in a clear protective sleeve. A few small rippling areas on the front board. Mostly at the right side edge. Looks to be a printing error. Otherwise the titles in silver gilt are bright on the spine and the front board. The hinges and the spine are very good. A little browning at the front gutter. The inside pages are bright and look unmarked. Furthur pictures upon request. Previous owner's signature in ink on the front endpaper. Light foxing to the end sheets. Moisture stains on the fore edges that seep into the margins, but not into the text.
