Frontespizio inc. entro bordura architettonica con figure allegoriche. Nell'avviso ai lettori, si legge: «.Monumenta, quae jam damus, illustrium toto orbe virorum, olim in aes incisa sunt sumptu e studio nobilissimi viri Sigefridi Rybischii, opera vero Tobiae Fendtii, civis ac pictoris Vratslaviensis, longe celeberrimi.». Interessante opera nella quale compaiono le 125 tavole incise da Fendt, già utilizzate dallo stesso incisore nell'opera: «Monumenta sepulcrorum cum Epigraphis ingenio et doctrina excellentium virorum . ex liberalitate Sigefridi Rybisch. per Tobiam Fendt, .Anno Chr. M.D.LXXIIII (Breslau, 1574)», che venne ristampata nel 1584, 1585, 1589, 1638 e 1671. Le 125 tavole comuni alle due opere raffigurano tombe, monumenti sepolcrali, iscrizioni funerarie, per lo più relative a grandi personaggi italiani e latini (Livio, Euripide, Plinio, Virgilio, Sannazaro, Dante, Ariosto, M.Ficino, Poliziano, L. Aretino, L. Valla, Pico della Mirandola, Soncino; a Padova, Volterra, Napoli, Ferrara, Perugia, Pisa, Bologna). Tutte le incisioni sono assai curate nei dettagli ed alcune assai decorative. Questa serie costituisce un importante studio sulla decorazione funeraria antica, anche in considerazione della probabile distruzione o perdita di molti dei monumenti raffigurati. Di T.
